The state of Yucatan has international connections in the country, since it is the fastest access point from the Mexican border to:

The strategic location provides interconnectivity, resulting in the city is linked to the main roads of the country, has an exit to Progreso, the most important port of the state that serves as a tourist point in addition to providing an entry to national and international trade. The international airport also connects the main destinations within Mexico, the United States and Europe. Its location makes Merida an important point for international markets, as it has its own port of import and export, located in Progreso Yucatan, just 20 minutes from the capital. Merida and Progreso will be part of the Special Economic Zone, which will become a trigger for development, providing benefits as well as tax and regulatory facilities for investment. At a national level, the work of the Yucatecan police continues to give good results that translate into the arrival of millions in tourist investments, and in the increase of visitors arriving both by air and by sea through new cruise ships.

The work of the Secretariat of Public Security headed by Commander Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda is implicitly recognized and qualified.

Strengthen the green infrastructure system through planning, design and implementation of urban strategies at different scales of actions and projects that contribute to enrich the eco-systemic services in the public and private space of the Municipality of Merida.

Axes

City planning and the design of public spaces require the integration of nature-based strategies for climate change adaptation and mitigation.

This plan is an integral, transversal and multidisciplinary instrument that consists of 4 axes:

  • Urban studies and technical documents

  • Programs and projects to be implemented

  • Promotion of Citizen Culture

  • Strengthening of the Legal Framework

Plan of life

Real estate developments in Merida have become popular thanks to the fact that the city is considered one of the best cities to live in Mexico.

Just last year the United Nations awarded Merida the recognition for being the best city to live in Mexico thanks to its quality of life, beating out 304 cities in the country.

Part of what makes Merida so valuable is the security that the state enjoys, which has allowed the development of activities such as the bike-route or Merida on Sunday, which are already part of the traditions of the state and make non-residents who visit Merida fall in love with it more and more.

That is why many families have decided to move to the white city, in order to have a quieter life and enjoy quality services such as public and private schools, high specialty hospitals and modern as well as colonial architecture.

This is partly why those looking to invest in homes in Merida are also thinking of renting their properties for families or students, as well as foreigners looking to retire to Mexico but still wanting to enjoy the benefits of the big cities or fleeing the low temperatures in their home countries.

Future Investment

Foreigners see Merida as a city with a bright future, whether to retire or to raise a family. So it is not surprising that the Merida government is trying to create new protocols to make these processes and procedures faster and more efficient.

Companies like Huawei, Leoni, brewery groups like Modelo and others are looking to Merida as an investment. Merida has technology to make it a safer and smarter city through the use of facial recognition in crowded places, the automation of the lighting of lights, as well as garbage cans.

In addition, the city will have an embassy for Chinese tourism and has signed with another renewable energy company for US$150 million.

Thus, Merida has become one of the cities with the largest real estate investment in Mexico.

Invest in Merida

In Merida, unlike other cities like Mexico City, the best subdivisions are in the middle and north of the city, the most demanded neighborhoods are 1- Benito Juarez Norte 2- Campestre 3- Montecristo 4- Montes de Amé 5- Colonia Mexico 6- Garcia Gineres 7- Zona Paseo Montejo (Zona Centro) as well as the new subdivisions near Altabrisa, such as 9- Cholul and 10- Conkal are among the best options to live in.

A great advantage is that the cost of buying a house in Merida is lower compared to other cities, however, thanks to the growth and future investment, we know that the return on investment is increasing, so many locals and foreigners are investing in Merida for its security and quality of life and these increase even more its value thanks to the great demand for these properties.
