DEWALT DCS391B Circular Saw MAX Li-Ion 20 volts

The Dewalt saw is one of the best qualified saws on the market, it is powerful for its compact size, light and easy to handle, the electronic brake is efficient providing safety when working, the speed of the cut depends on the number of teeth on the blade, the less teeth the faster (with a dirty cut) the more teeth the slower the speed of the cut (but with a cleaner and more precise cut).

Performance

It exceeded my expectations in terms of performance. I thought the saw (especially with the 16 tooth blade included) would have jammed a lot more being cordless. It went through 3/4" plywood, hardwood skids (thick lath and brackets) and chewed through 2x4's for breakfast. I was initially concerned if there was enough blade to cut 4x4's being 6 1/2" but, it is more than capable with about 2" depth of cut.

Guide and purchase criteria

First of all, it is important the use you are going to give to your hand circular saw, because if you are going to give little use or for domestic works, you will not need an excessively powerful saw, but with a simple one you will be enough. On the other hand, if you want to do excessive work where you need more power, you may need a professional or intermediate range circular saw.

Cutting speed

When choosing a circular saw, it is important that you choose a model that has different speed levels. This allows you to work on different materials, increasing the versatility of the tool. It is essential that you understand that the maximum speed is determined by the power of the motor.

Cutting angles

It is necessary that you evaluate the different cutting depths that the circular saws available have, since you will know that the materials do not always have the same thickness so it is necessary to be able to regulate that depth of cut.

The two main cutting angles are the so-called attack or bevel angles. These vary between 6º (negative) and 35º (positive), plus the simple angle. The criteria for choosing the correct angle have to do with the quality, type and hardness of the material. The feed speed and the position of the disc in front of the material also count.

Speed regulator.

Since not all materials are the same, nor are all jobs to be performed the same, it is important that the circular saw has a speed regulator. Although I tell you that most of the circular saws that are sold today in the market have this system.

Tilt angle adjustment.

Allows you to adjust the inclination of the circular saw with respect to the table to make cuts at angles different from 90°. Depending on the use you are going to give to the tool, you may be interested in the possibility of making cuts at steeper angles.

Power

The higher the wattage (W), the more precise the cuts and the harder the material.

Changing the saw blade.

There are different methods to fix the saw blade, the speed or ease may vary from one model to another. We must consider that the model we choose is easy to access and does not require special keys or keys that are difficult to obtain or replace.
